Kazakhstan plans to introduce digital tenge in the second half of 2021

The chairman of the National Bank Yerbolat Dossayev announced the planned launch of the pilot project, recalling that on May 5, the Digital Tenge report was published to discuss the issue of introducing digital currency in Kazakhstan with market participants, the expert community and government agencies.

"The decision on the need to introduce digital tenge will be made based on the results of a comprehensive study of potential benefits and risks, the impact on monetary policy and financial stability, the effect for the national payment system. The pilot project will be implemented in the second half of 2021," - Dossaev said at the meeting government.
